Another exciting development occurred at PPCM over the weekend. They posted POLISH AND PRUSSIAN MARRIAGES IN CALUMET, HOUGHTON COUNTY, MICHIGAN, which consists of marriage transcriptions of Houghton County Marriage Records from 1872-1911. It contains all of the following names and more: Pytlewski, Petlewski, Zwierzchowski, Monkowski, Stepniak, Juziwak, Walczak. I suggest you check it out to see some additional entries that include some witnessings by Stanislaus and Josef Pytlewski. This will be a valuable resource for many Calumet Polish researchers for years to come!

Jeff – Not only was it a wonderful site for the Polish residents, but I also found a photo of a gravestone for one of my Kempf ancestors in the Hecla Cemetery that is online at the same site. WOW – I had been looking for him for a long time. He was only 13 when he died, so he only showed up in the 1880 Census. Do you know if the Laurium newspaper is on film at L of M?
Happy New Year !!

It depends on the year of death. Here’s a link to a list of the L of M’s newspapers for Houghton County.
