Family Tree Maker 2008 Beta

Family Tree Maker 2008 Beta has been released for public testing. It looks like it has been totally revamped. I’m downloading it as I’m writing this and will have a review of the new format in a couple of days (or maybe a week). In the meantime, be sure to check it out at http://beta.familytreemaker.com.

  1. Allen,

From what I have seen so far, I like FTM 2008 a lot as well. The features seem to integrate with each other better. However, I am concerned that The Generations Network may be using FTM 2008 to push their ancestry.com line more. Hopefully, they have made it easy for users to user other genealogy subscription services or even free internet sites.

  2. If you have not really tried FTM 2008 (rc1 beta version) I strongly recommend doing so with a large number of individuals in your database.

The “for sale” version is due later this month, August, and, if it really is made available, I cannot imagine that it will be very usable with large numbers of individuals.

My review, http://FamilyTreeMaker.chesebro.info, should be sufficient warning.
